2010 Great Giveaway Winners Have Been Chosen!

189 of you nominated 71 non-profit organizations for our Great Giveaway this year!  Our most recent blog entry compiles some notable news from the nominations.  And now, here's the moment many have been waiting for.... this year's winners.

Imagine Photographics and photographer Steve Smith will donate a half day of photography to each of these two organizations.  Engaging portraits that artfully capture both the essence of a person and their work, can be used in many media and leveraged with great effect for these organizations.

Downtown Languages strengthens multicultural connections in our community by offering specialized language classes to people with emerging language skills.  Their nominator hoped that photography of their clients would be a valuable asset in helping secure grants to continue to offer low-cost or free programs to new Eugenians.

Committed Partners for Youth / Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County orchestrates those personal relationships that can really make a difference in the life of a young person.   The photography we are donating will be used specifically to recruit more men to be mentors to the many boys waiting to be matched.

Imagine Fleet Graphics will donate a graphics wrap of one van or truck, providing this organization with years of fantastic 24/7 visibility.

Northwest Youth Corps combines outdoor and environmental education with much needed jobs for youth, building and maintaining trails, benefiting all of us who like to get out in nature.  The empowerment, healthy camaraderie and work experience can be a crucial stepping stone for a teen at a pivotal point in their lives. Northwest Youth Corps has provided opportunities to over 10,000 young people since their founding in 1984!

Imagine Graphics will donate $300 worth of banners, exhibit signage or other graphics products to each of these 10 organizations.

Court Appointed Special Advocates are highly trained volunteers who act as a watchdog for a child in foster care.  By providing a voice in court proceedings for each foster child's best interests until that child is in a safe, permanent home, volunteers make sure no child with a CASA falls through the cracks.

The Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) is a global network of human rights and environmental advocates who use law and science to advance environmental justice.  Their Eugene-based office provides effective, targeted information and support to people all over the world who are trying to protect the environment.

The Community Veterinary Center provides veterinary care and spay/neuter services to pets of low-income families.  They are well on their way to completing renovations and opening their brand new clinic in a few months, on land donated by St. Vincent de Paul, in a modular building donated by Creswell School District! We look forward to helping provide some signage for the new clinic.

Lord Leebrick Theatre Company has enriched Eugene with performances, classes and theater related events for over 18 years.  And now they're moving to Broadway!  A 25,000 sq. foot building at 194 W Broadway, specifically, providing a cultural anchor tenant to downtown and increasing their seating capacity to 175. We look forward to helping spiff up their new diggs with some signage.

SASS provides community education, outreach, advocacy and support to survivors of sexual violence and their partners, families and friends throughout Lane County.  A tabletop display to help them reach out effectively at events is what one nominator thought they might need from Imagine Graphics.

GEARS promotes and encourages bike riding through safety education, and advocacy for bike paths and bike-friendly public policies.  Bike riding is such a win-win for individual healthfulness and our community's carbon footprint.  Hopefully an A-frame sign or event banner will help build awareness of their work and recruit more people to incorporate bike riding into their lifestyle.

Next Step's ePower Our Community (ePOC) initiative is designed to close the deep technology gap and narrow the achievement gap between low and higher-income homes and students. To do this they plan to open Digital Literacy Training Centers, one each year for the next  four years, offering computer training and refurbished computers to Lane County's marginalized families. They've secured a site for the first DLTC at Broadway and Oak and fundraising is underway to complete it.

The Cascade Raptor Center has quite a large group of passionate volunteers and supporters, if the 36 nominations they received are any indication!  CRC isn't just a cool place to see and learn about amazing birds, it is also a nationally renowned rehabilitation facility for orphaned, sick and injured wildlife, and a place where aspiring animal conservation students get invaluable hands-on work experience.  We made their interpretive signs several years ago and now are looking forward to helping them improve the booth graphics they use for education and outreach at events.

Skaters for Eugene Skateparks is half way through an ambitious fundraising campaign to build an awesome skatepark in the covered, lit space under the Washington Jefferson bridge. Skateparks, like other athletic facilities, support vibrant, healthy communities and this one could even attract world class skateboarding competitions and the associated tourist dollars. They've already garnered significant support from local Rotary clubs and the City of Eugene.  A banner will give them a more visible presence and help inspire and engage new supporters.

For close to half a century, the Oregon Track Club has been the quiet force behind Eugene's image as the track capital of the US.   From all-comers’ meets to Olympic Trials, the Eugene-based club has been instrumental in promoting track and field and running for all facets of the community.  Currently they are working on maintaining Pre's Trail for all users, and promoting awareness of the history and legacy of Track Town USA.  We look forward to providing them with mounted posters or other signage.

So there are the 13 groups who will receive a total of over $10,000 of in-kind donations through Imagine Group's 2010 Great Giveaway.  Thanks so much to everyone who participated in the nominations.  We'll show you how the projects turn out!

Bring a Stand Up Duck home with you this Christmas!

As you may have noticed in our last eNewsletter, Imagine Graphics is now making a line of lively, fun, Stand Up Ducks for retail sale.  (Thank you to the Valley River Inn for letting Steve shoot these promo shots in their lovely lobby.)

A Stand Up Duck could be the perfect stocking stuffer or bowl game party decor, don't you think?!

Available exclusively at the Duck Stores, prices start at only $10. They come in five sizes - from 15" tall to 58" tall!  They are made from biodegradeable materials and come with an easel on the back so they can stand up on their own.  Smaller sizes are being stocked at all five Duck Stores but if you're after one of the larger sizes, try the campus Duck Store.  What a great year for UO athletics, eh?!
